Planning utilities
DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) capabilities — your customers should never face surprise duties or taxes at delivery.
Automated customs documentation — commercial invoices, certificates of origin, and HS code classification.
Broad country coverage with reliable last-mile delivery partners in your target markets.
Landed cost calculators that show total cost including duties, taxes, and brokerage at checkout.
Returns management for international orders — reverse logistics is complex and expensive cross-border.
Multi-carrier comparison for international routes — rates vary dramatically by carrier and destination.
International shipping costs depend heavily on destination, weight, and service level. Expect $15–$35 for a 1 lb package to Canada/Mexico, $25–$60 to Europe, and $35–$80 to Asia/Australia. DDP solutions add 5–15% for duties/tax management but eliminate customer-facing charges. Customs brokerage fees range from $25–$75 per shipment for standalone brokers, but many platforms include this in their rates. Volume shippers (500+ international packages/month) can negotiate significant discounts.
Planning estimates are not live quotes. Material, dimensions, print coverage, finishes, freight, and order timing can materially change the final price.
Do you offer DDP solutions so my customers don't pay duties at delivery?
Which countries do you have the strongest delivery networks in?
How do you handle HS code classification — is it automated or manual?
What are your average transit times to my top destination countries?
How do you handle international returns — do you have regional return centers?
Can you integrate landed cost calculations into my Shopify checkout?
DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) means the seller pays all import duties, taxes, and brokerage fees so the customer receives their package with no surprise charges. Without DDP, customers may refuse delivery or have a poor experience. DDP is the standard expectation for international ecommerce.
HS (Harmonized System) codes classify products for customs. Your shipping provider should offer automated HS classification based on product descriptions. Incorrect codes can cause delays, overpayment of duties, or seized shipments. For high-value or regulated products, consult a customs broker.
Start with markets that share your language, have strong ecommerce adoption, and have straightforward customs processes. For US brands: Canada, UK, and Australia are typically the easiest starting points. For EU brands: other EU countries (duty-free), then UK, US, and Switzerland.
Compare domestic and overseas packaging suppliers across cost, MOQ, lead time, quality control, freight, risk, and scaling strategy.
